Chisago City Council approves consent agenda; auditors recommend including License Bureau checks in bills report

Chisago City Council met on Jan. 13, 2026, and approved the consent agenda, which included the minutes of Dec. 9, 2025, payment of bills, committee reports and Resolution 26-01-01 making committee appointments with a correction to the insurance provider to Northrisk Partners. Mayor Jeremy Dresel presided.
Finance Director Cassie Gemuenden told the council the preliminary audit has concluded and auditors recommended the city include License Bureau-issued checks—used for items such as refunds for overcharges—in the routine payment-of-bills report going forward. Gemuenden also briefed the council on employee safety training options: annual mandatory safety training for all employees to be completed by the end of February and additional monthly training for Public Works staff.
Council member Mark Anderson moved to approve the consent agenda and the resolution correcting the insurance provider; Council member Marie Rivers seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The action keeps existing committee assignments in place while correcting the specified vendor for insurance coverage.
The council's approval implements the auditors' operational recommendation and sets training expectations for staff ahead of the spring work season.
