Council reviews proposed code updates, signals support for repealing animal licensing fee

Deputy Police Chief Michael Minx presented proposed updates to Chapter 91. Minx noted the animal licensing fee had been created to finance an Animal Control Officer but — because the fee was not heavily enforced — it did not generate the expected revenue. Council members expressed support for repealing the fee rather than adjusting it; no repeal ordinance was introduced at the meeting and the proposal will be returned for a vote at the next meeting.
Both items were discussion-only on Jan. 13; the council requested no immediate action and will consider formal ordinances at a subsequent meeting.
