Jonathan Wrolstad, treasurer for the Chisago City Fire Department Relief Association, presented the council with the association’s 2024 audit and explained the department’s recent move into the Statewide Volunteer Firefighter (SVF) pension program. Wrolstad said the pension assets transferred to the state on Jan. 1 and that the transition required a completed 2024 audit to confirm the transfer was successful.
Wrolstad said the department received a state bonus of $28,000 as an incentive for joining SVF and that the association anticipates saving about $17,000 per year in audit costs going forward. Council member Mark Anderson moved to accept the audit and Council member Marie Rivers seconded; the council voted to accept the audit with all ayes.
The council took no additional action beyond accepting the audit report at the meeting.
