RSU 23 students recognized: quiz show certificate, music groups advance; events and fundraisers scheduled

The RSU 23 board heard a student report on March 15 highlighting recent accomplishments and upcoming events.
Student representative Cierra Albert said, "It's nice to finally be back at school after two snow days," and congratulated students inducted into the National Honor Society and extracurricular teams that advanced: the jazz ensemble and jazz choir qualified for states, and concert band will attend the Scarborough High School festival. The board presented a certificate recognizing Jason Henry and the Maine High School Quiz Show team for qualifying among 16 schools to participate in the statewide competition.
Cierra also announced several student events: a blood drive scheduled the next day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the high-school gym; an Escape Room fundraiser that raised over $300; prom on May 12 at Dunegrass with the theme "Enchanted Ball"; and an Outing Club hike in the White Mountains.
Chair David Boudreau reminded seniors to complete scholarship packets; he said the district awarded about $70,000 in scholarships last year and that 75 students are expected to graduate this year. Guidance packets are required to apply for scholarships.
