Chisago City fines Chisago Liquors $500 after underage compliance check sale

Administrator John Pechman told the council the city issued a notice of violation on Aug. 13 and reviewed the presumptive penalties in the liquor ordinance. Because the store had no prior compliance failures in the past three years, staff recommended the $500 fine rather than the presumptive 60‑day liquor license suspension. No representative from Chisago Liquors was present at the meeting.
Council member Craig Meyer moved to impose the $500 fine; Council member Marie Rivers seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Chief of Police Bill Schlumbohm confirmed the department conducts periodic compliance checks of on‑premises and off‑premises liquor and tobacco sellers.
