Nebraska City council approves consent agenda, event permits and claims list

At its March 2 meeting, the Nebraska City Council approved consent agenda items and a claims list covering expenditures for the period of Feb. 17 to Mar. 2, 2026.
Vice President Cole Sharp moved to approve consent items; Commissioner Ron Osovski seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The consent items included approval of the Feb. 16, 2026 meeting minutes; the claims list (which lists payroll of $175,352.02 among other payments); approval of a liquor license manager change for David Staab with High Plains Pizza Hut Inc.; and issuance of a Master Plumbers and Drain Layers License for Scott Weatherhogg.
The council approved an SDL for Knights of Columbus Nebraska City to be held March 21, 2026 (4:00 P.M.–11:00 P.M.) at Lourdes Central Catholic High School. Separately, the council later approved a request to close 14th Street from Central Avenue to 1st Avenue on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. for the Little Heroes, Big Futures Arbor Day Funfest; Sally Schreiner explained that street-closure request before the unanimous vote. The council also approved an SDL for Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast for a December 19, 2026 concert at the Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Building.
