Roxbury selectmen approve security contract increase, sign shoreland map and set special town meeting

Selectman Timothy Derouche called the Roxbury Board of Selectmen to order Aug. 23 at the Town Office and led the pledge of allegiance. The board approved a slate of routine municipal measures and scheduled a Special Town Meeting for Sept. 13.
The board approved a contract adjustment for building security work. Selectman Timothy Derouche moved to accept a 7% increase to Security One LLC related to door locks and camera installation; Selectman Matthew Patneaude seconded and the motion passed 2-0. The minutes record the project cost as $6,388.60 in total.
The selectmen signed the official Shoreland zoning and mountain district map, dated and amended June 23, 2022. "The shoreland map was signed as presented," the minutes show; the motion by Derouche and second by Patneaude passed 2-0.
On winter maintenance, the board reviewed a sand bid from Swaseys and directed staff to pursue pricing for salt and sand but not to exceed $13,050 in purchases for the season. Derouche moved the cap, Patneaude seconded and the motion passed 2-0.
The board accepted the warrant for a Special Town Meeting to be held Sept. 13 at 5:30 p.m., with the Selectmen’s next regular meeting scheduled the same evening at 6:00 p.m. The board also moved to convert the Roxwind TIF account to a money market sweep; that motion passed 2-0.
When signing the warrant for the Aug. 23 meeting, Derouche moved to accept it with an exemption to withhold the ATV club item until more information is available. The warrant total recorded in the minutes was $262,236.21; the motion passed 2-0.
Other items on the agenda included routine building updates (septic cover and riser pending; roof inspection no update), code enforcement items (DEP concerns at Sunset Cove and shoreland work), planning board follow-up on a solar decommission plan, and outstanding items such as a dock grant still pending and RoxWind nomination paperwork to be corrected and re-presented. The board noted a street light outage at the corner of Main Street and Old County Road (CMP pole 47/2) and discussed asking an ACO deputy, "Sue," to attend a future meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m. The board voted 2-0 on motions where recorded; Selectmen Ray Hodsdon was listed as absent in the minutes.
