Students report on iPad rollout, internships and a Make-A-Wish fundraiser

Cierra Albert, a junior at Old Orchard Beach High School and class president, delivered the student report to the RSU 23 board on Sept. 21, saying iPads were being deployed for instructional use, clubs and homecoming planning were underway, and fall athletics were performing well.
Chase Walker presented details about the Wings to Wishes fundraiser planned for Sept. 30 on the beach; he said 34 planes were expected and that he had raised $3,300 so far for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, crediting local support including OOB 365.
Jaclyn Hayes reviewed the senior internship program pilot, summarized outcomes and areas for improvement, and said the district is coordinating closely with local businesses. Student Jacob Maloney described how his internship helped him to choose a post-graduation path. Separately, Tim O'Connor reported that ESEA/Title funds for 2017'2018 were allocated to an interventionist and that Title II funds were used to reduce class sizes.
Board members had no public comments on these presentations.
