RSU 23 building committee seeks options for replacement schools; Phase 1 playground updates finished

Smith (JES) and LMS are in poor condition; the committee is assembling options for the community to consider, though the district's status as a minimum receiver limits expectations about outside funding.

Michelle Violette reported that Phase 1 of the JES/LMS playground update is complete. She thanked volunteers, donors and district maintenance staff (naming Mark Beaudoin, Dick Martin and Glenn Gilbert) and described donated materials and volunteer labor that enabled the installation.
The board discussed next steps for facilities planning and thanked staff and community volunteers for completing the playground work as the school year began.
