Paradise Sewer Authority approves control upgrades, blowers and structural engineering work; tables several procurement items

The Paradise Township Sewer Authority on Jan. 5 approved several operational and capital items for the Waste Water Treatment Plant and reviewed contractor and operator issues.
Consulting engineer Aaron Dewald reported equipment orders through Thern for additional davit cranes, noted Mills Bridge Village & Camp Resort completed pumping station upgrades Dec. 29, 2025, and said incorrect HVAC switches installed during construction have been directed to PSI for replacement.
The board approved a $4,200 control engineering quote from GES to implement PLC programming logic for variable-frequency-drive operation during generator/utility transfers on a motion by Bryan Stoltzfus, seconded by J.B. Stoltzfus. The board also approved Option 1 from Martz Technologies for blowers at $9,584.29 on a motion by Dave Bowman, seconded by Bryan Stoltzfus; both motions passed unanimously and the board noted grant funds can be used to pay for those projects.
Aaron reported a water pump had been found not to be covered by warranty and that replacing it would cost about $1,300; an older pump is functioning in its place. The Board reviewed a Providence Engineering proposal for structural engineering at the plant (design $5,800; construction administration $600) and approved it unanimously.
The Treasurer reported plant operator expenses were a notable cost driver and the board directed two Authority members to meet in person with the operator (PreDoc) to discuss ongoing costs. The board tabled a Cleveland Brothers quote to replace a gauge and water drain and tabled a Martz quote for sunshields on control panels ($2,648.40) pending more information.
The Board also considered a request from Mervin King for a reduced tapping fee and payment schedule for 3385 Lincoln Highway East (72 EDUs) and voted to deny the request because only a sketch plan, not a permit application or plans, has been submitted. The Board discussed but tabled consideration of EEMA O&M Services Group for operations and further renegotiation of PreDoc’s contract. Finally, a revised Letter of Intent from York Water Co. was circulated and tabled; further discussion was anticipated at a Jan. 21, 2026 meeting.
