Member Speed moved to postpone the second reading and asked for a report from Bangor High School on the policy’s effects this year; a second was recorded and the motion carried on a unanimous voice vote.
Members said they wanted more time to consider evidence about late-night travel for co-curricular events, possible equity impacts for students with evening responsibilities, and a student-led survey that may inform the policy's final language. Administrators described limited exceptions typically reserved for overnight trips, weather-related travel disruptions or statewide competitions and emphasized the policy allows superintendent authorization for unique circumstances.
The motion to table was recorded by voice as unanimous (7-0). The policy committee will return the measure for additional consideration at the June 10 meeting.
