Midway council considers shrinking transient rental overlay; public hearing recommended

Some suggested leaving transient-rental decisions to homeowners associations for subdivisions that already prohibit rentals; others warned that removing a development from the TROD could prevent future HOAs from reallowing rentals if the city’s map is altered.
The council discussed specific boundary edits, including removing a small notch along 100 South, and noted the City will begin employing an enforcement officer beginning July 1. Members emphasized the need to determine resident preferences and directed that a public hearing be held before any TROD reductions are finalized.
No formal vote to change TROD boundaries occurred at the meeting.
