City finance staff presented the March 2026 budget update to the La Puente City Council, reporting that 75% of the fiscal year has elapsed and that several revenue lines are mixed.
The presenter (speaker 9) said general fund revenues to date are $11,620,000, equal to about 52.8% of the year's budget, slightly below last year's 54.9% at the same point. Property-tax receipts have increased roughly 3% over the prior year; sales-tax collections are up about 12%. He said license and permit revenue is down by roughly $319,000 compared with the prior year, which the presenter attributed to several large projects that boosted prior-year receipts but have not recurred.
Across all funds, the presenter reported $19,600,000 in revenues and said expenditures total $21,600,000 (about 62.1% of the combined budget). The presenter recommended the council receive and file the report; no vote was required.
Why it matters: The numbers show mixed revenue performance—strong sales-tax growth offset by declines in permit-related revenue—which affects near-term budget planning. Council members emphasized the value of monthly updates to stay informed about city finances.
