The Midway City Council adopted the city's fiscal-year 2027 budget and approved a budget amendment for FY2026 during its June 16 meeting.
Brad, the budget officer, presented the FY2027 proposal and identified a single change since the tentative adoption: a $400,000 increase to the North Homestead waterline project in the water fund. He summarized other items in the fiscal package, including small shifts in revenues and expenditures, an audit that identified roughly $100,000 more than anticipated in a CIP/tax fund, and a plan to perform quarterly budget amendments going forward.
On the FY2026 amendment, Brad noted the city is up approximately $605,000 in total revenue year-over-year though some categories softened (building permits, some licensing and plan check revenues). The Bigler Lane project required a $160,000 increase after a bill was identified late in the process. Brad also reported the city received a $750,000 trails grant (Federal Highway) earlier in the year; the required local match for that grant is approximately 6.77 percent.
The council opened and closed the public hearing on the FY2026 amendment, then approved Resolution 2026-13 (budget amendment) and Resolution 2026-14 (FY2027 budget) by recorded voice votes. Recorded votes showed councilmembers saying 'Aye' in roll-call fashion; the meeting record shows five recorded 'Aye' responses for each of these major budget votes.
Brad said staff will continue to refine line items and make quarterly budget amendments to keep the council and staff aligned on expenditures and revenues.
