Lancaster ISD board approves new finance director and high‑school principal

Lancaster — Lancaster ISD trustees on June 16 approved two senior personnel hires recommended by Superintendent Dr. Katrice Pereira.

The board approved Ronald Carter II as executive director of finance on a one‑year, non‑Chapter 21 employment contract. The administration said Carter brings extensive experience in governmental accounting, grant reporting, audit coordination and financial controls. Dr. Ashandanda Reed moved the hiring motion, which Secretary Carolyn Morris seconded; the board vote was six in favor with Trustee Taji Jones recorded as abstaining. Carter addressed the board afterward, saying, "I'm truly honored and excited to accept this role" and pledging to be "a responsible steward of district resources." Trustees also approved Christopher Rose as principal of Lancaster High School under a one‑year Chapter 21 probationary contract. Vice President Quinny Nichols moved the motion; Secretary Morris seconded. The board recorded six yes votes and one abstention (Taji Jones). The superintendent described Rose's experience in instructional leadership and his prior work reducing student referrals by 50% at his former campus. Rose thanked trustees, district leadership and his family and said he was "excited to serve as the principal of Lancaster High School."

Both hires followed a closed‑session personnel deliberation authorized under the Texas Open Meetings Act; the appointments were taken as action items in open session. The board paused for photos and brief recognition after each approval.
