The Finance and Administration and Economic Development Committee on June 23 approved a resolution authorizing the county administrator to enter into memoranda of agreement that would allow Beaufort County fleet services to perform repair and maintenance for other governmental agencies.
County staff member Mr. Robinson told the committee that "fleet services as of July 1 will become an internal service fund," which will allow the fund to provide services to outside governmental entities, including a potential agreement with the state of South Carolina. He said an example memorandum of understanding is included in the meeting backup and that similar agreements would be used with outside entities.
The committee handled the item as a consent-level resolution and approved forwarding it to the full Beaufort County Council for final action without objection. The chair closed discussion by asking whether the item could be approved without objection; no member objected.
The resolution authorizes the county administrator to execute intergovernmental agreements or MOUs that follow the example provided in the meeting materials. The committee did not record a roll-call vote; outcomes were captured as approvals without objection and will be considered by county council at a later meeting.
