Loomis trustees approve fireworks sale, pick ACE for gas program and accept lawn-care bid

At its April 13 meeting the Loomis Village Board approved a fireworks-sales permit, selected ACE as the Gas Choice Program provider, accepted Green Landscapes’ low lawn-care bid for the ball complex, approved routine claims and financial reports, and granted a storage-container building permit with one abstention.
Chairman Keith Fagot opened the Village of Loomis Board of Trustees’ regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. on April 13, 2026, at the Loomis Community Building. The board approved the meeting agenda and previous month’s minutes and then approved financial reports and a slate of claims for payment.
During the public-comment period there were no speakers. The board unanimously granted permission for Colby Gray to sell fireworks inside village limits, subject to compliance with village ordinances and Nebraska state law; the motion was made by Trustee Don Masten and seconded by Chairman Keith Fagot and passed 5–0.
The board finalized the Loomis Village Clean Up day for April 20, 2026 and confirmed that public notice has been posted on the village website and at the post office.
On utility procurement, the board voted to participate in the Gas Choice Program using ACE as the village’s gas provider and authorized Lori Vinzant to submit the enrollment paperwork. The motion, moved by Chairman Keith Fagot and seconded by Trustee Melanie Freeman, passed unanimously.
For the Loomis Baseball/Softball Complex the trustees reviewed three quotations for fertilizer and weed control and voted to accept the lowest bid from Green Landscapes for the 2026 season (motion by Keith Fagot; second by Maxine Berry; vote 5–0).
Chairman Fagot reported on nuisance issues and said letters concerning vehicle licensing will be mailed; the minutes note the report but record no additional enforcement motion. A building permit submitted in the name of Trustee Don Masten to place a storage container on his property was approved after a motion by Chairman Fagot and a second by Trustee Ben Collin; Don Masten abstained and the motion carried 4–0 with one abstention.
Village Clerk MJ Pristavec provided updates on planned work: rehabilitation of a drainage ditch in the park with installation of a bridge, painting of ballfield bleachers, removal of two terrace trees, installation of new lights in the village shop and ongoing armor coating of streets.
The board scheduled its next regular meeting for 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2026, at the Loomis Community Building. The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
