County to close Celestine Road bridge for 5–6 weeks; multiple bridge projects near completion

Highway Engineer Levi Leffert told the Dubois County Commissioners on June 1 that several bridge projects are wrapping up and that one bridge will be closed for rehabilitation.
Leffert said Blankenberger Brothers is nearing completion on Bridge 78 (CR 600 W over the Patoka River), with final asphalt approaches, guardrail and striping expected this week. C&R Construction is completing deck overlays on Bridge 107 (St. Anthony Road N) and Bridge 240 (St. Anthony Road W); concrete decks are curing and asphalt approaches will be installed when appropriate.
Leffert announced that Bridge 36 on Celestine Road N (0.16 miles south of SR 545) will close beginning Wednesday, June 3 for replacement of the deck and steel beams. The structure is posted at a 20-ton limit and the county said the closure is expected to last approximately 5 to 6 weeks, pending weather or other unforeseen delays. Temporary stone approaches and asphalt transitions will be completed to restore permanent riding surfaces after structural work is finished.
The board received updates on smaller-structure work as well, including completion of Small Structure #16 on Dubois Road NE and planned asphalt transitions to improve approaches. Commissioners indicated they expect contractors to reopen roadways when work allows and to limit traffic disruption where feasible.
