Grant County Water Resource District approves $17,248 Sheep Creek playground upgrade, adopts 2027 budget

Grant County Water Resource District Chairman Jerald Christensen said the board approved a $17,248 proposal to upgrade playground equipment at Sheep Creek during the district’s regular June 15 meeting in Elgin.

Director Steven Schadler presented final cost figures for the Sheep Creek playground and Director Harold Gaugler moved to approve the proposal without colored rubber mulch. Director Steven Schadler seconded the motion and the board carried it. The meeting record lists the total cost as $17,248 and specifies that the approved scope excludes color rubber mulch.

The board also reviewed routine financial business. Secretary/Treasurer Julie Levorsen presented bills totaling $11,455.03 and the district approved payment. Major listed items included an invoice for Raleigh Dam conduit repairs to the North Dakota Department of Water Resources for $6,031.07, caretaker payments (Wayne Iszler, June Sheep Creek caretaker $1,350.00; Andrew Kuntz, June Raleigh caretaker $1,100.00), sanitation and supply charges, and accounting rent. The meeting minutes list the detailed bill register and a total of $11,455.03 for payment.

The proposed 2027 budget was reviewed and approved after a motion by Director Harold Gaugler, seconded by Director Steven Schadler. Chairman Christensen reported that a work day at Raleigh Dam is planned and that recent repairs at Sheep Creek (skylights, windbreak and roof) have been completed. Director Gaugler also reported on upcoming meetings relevant to the district.

The meeting began at 7:00 p.m., passed several routine motions including approval of the May 18, 2026 minutes and the May treasurer’s report, and adjourned after a motion by Director Steven Schadler. No public comment or opposed votes were recorded in the meeting minutes.
