Select Board decides library easement changes will be made after construction

The Select Board reviewed options developed with legal counsel for resolving a potential conflict between planned construction at the Casco Library and an existing easement. Counsel recommended modifying the easement and pursuing voter approval at a regularly scheduled town meeting as the most practical and cost-effective path. During discussion a trustee who also sits on the board requested clarity about timing.
A motion that any modification to the easement occur after construction (and be considered at a regular or semiannual town meeting) was made and seconded; the board recorded a 3-1 vote in favor with one member opposed. The board noted staff will prepare documentation and follow up with the library and counsel about the timing and language required for voter consideration.
The action does not itself change the easement immediately; it sets the board'9s procedural approach for how to secure voter approval for modifications.
