The Mono County Board of Supervisors voted June 9 to approve a three-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Mono County Probation Officers Association covering July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029.
The chair read the fiscal impact for fiscal year 2026–27 as $45,899, which the chair broke down as $25,049 for COLA, equity and an on-call rate increase; $13,763 for a 401(a) employer contribution increase; and $5,087 for an increase in pay for the firearms instructor role. "For the fiscal year of 2026–27, the total impact is $45,899," the chair said during the presentation.
Assistant CAO Bouchard said negotiations were smooth, thanked bargaining representatives and noted both sides appeared satisfied with the agreement. The board approved the recommended resolution and MOU by motion and recorded the motion as passing.
The MOU covers probation-department compensation adjustments and related terms described in the staff report; the transcript did not include the full contract text. Implementation will be handled by the county's human-resources and fiscal staff under normal collective-bargaining procedures.
Next steps: county staff will implement the agreed compensation changes in payroll and reflect the FY 2026–27 impact in department budgets.
