The Mariposa County Board of Supervisors authorized submission of a California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) Encampment Resolution Funding application for $1,257,000 aimed at providing targeted support for individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness.
Supervisor Poe introduced CA12, explaining the amount and seeking confirmation about the application process. Mandy Brown, interim director of Health and Human Services, said the county previously received about $607,000 in a prior round of encampment resolution funding that funded shelter pathways, relocation assistance and the purchase of pallet shelters for local shelter capacity. She told the board staff would return with reporting on past grant performance and overall funding history.
"We were successfully awarded encampment resolution funding in the past in the amount of about $607,000 that did allow us to move individuals...into diverse pathways for shelter, housing relocation assistance and purchase the pallet shelters to expand capacity at our shelter," Brown said.
Supervisors asked for and received commitments from staff to provide a summary of grant history and outcomes. The consent agenda that included CA12 was approved unanimously earlier in the meeting.
The application would be subject to final review and approval by county counsel prior to submission and, if awarded, would fund shelter, relocation, and supportive services targeted at unsheltered residents in Mariposa County.
