Town wins $890,000 state connectivity grant; board approves drainage contract, PFAS well study and equipment purchases

Carter to execute the contract and reasonable change orders. The motion carried by voice vote.
Water/Maple Avenue wells PFAS study: The board approved a bid waiver and awarded a consultant study to Right Pierce for PFAS treatment pilot work at the Maple Avenue wells; the PUC-approved funding source was identified as PAS settlement funds and the estimate for scope plus lab analysis was reported as $24,500.
Equipment approvals: The board approved purchases (to be recommended to the board of finance from capital) for Scott pack trackers ($3,762.78) and a shared radiation detector ($1,899); motions passed by voice vote.
Tax and appointments: The board approved tax refunds noted on the agenda (the numeric amount was not legible in the audio record) and approved a veterans' tax exemption for the property at 45 Star Lane with an abatement amount read in the record as $14,738.81. The board postponed appointments to boards and commissions.
Executive session and adjournment: The board entered executive session to discuss purchase of real property under Connecticut General Statutes §1-2006(d), invited Mary Churchill and town councilor Melanie O'Brien, returned to open session and adjourned at about 7:48 p.m.
