Planning Board authorizes referral for EV charging at Reade Hotel to Orange County

The Town of Newburgh Planning Board on Aug. 21 agreed to circulate an amended site plan for EV charging at the Reade Hotel to Orange County Planning and to require adjoiners' notices.
Paul Simihtis, representing Reade Hotel Capital, said the hotel will not own the chargers and scaled back its plan from multiple stations to two dual‑port chargers because of cost, saying, “We're just going to do two dual ports.”
Jim Campbell, Town code compliance, said the applicant must provide additional design and permit information for permit issuance, and that construction hours should be added to the EAF (the current filing listed zero construction hours). He also recommended positioning protection bollards behind the curb so parking spaces are not diminished.
Pat Hines of MH&E told the board the project must be circulated to Orange County Planning and that adjoiners' notices be sent; he offered to prepare the mailing list and instructions. The board voted, by roll call, to refer the matter to Orange County Planning and to send adjoiners' notices; the motion passed unanimously.
Mr. Simihtis thanked the board and said he will work with staff on the design and county referral.
