Bolingbrook Arts Council advances swinging-bench public-art project with call for artist proposals

The Bolingbrook Arts Council on June 2 announced a public-art bench collaboration with the Knights of Columbus and the Bolingbrook Park District that will result in a swinging bench and archway to be delivered at the end of June. The council said the project will include a call for artist proposals that specifies materials and a theme for submitted concepts.

"First swinging bench collaboration with the Knights of Columbus Park & Park District will be delivered at the end of June," Chair Mithra Zaucha said during the Visual Arts Committee report. She said the call for proposals will include specifications and a theme so artists can submit concepts and note the materials to be used.

Visual Arts co-chairs also reported ongoing programming tied to the council's Art in the Windows series, including the selection of a 'Best in Show' for the Bloom exhibit; the winner will receive a $100 Visa card. The Abstract Exhibit is scheduled to open the same week.

The council did not specify the park location, the procurement timeline beyond delivery at the end of June, or the selection panel for the artist call. Those details were listed as part of the Visual Arts Committee update and are to be handled by the committee co-chairs, the minutes state.
