The La Puente City Council voted to approve a three-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 721 covering the contract term of July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028.
Staff summarized key provisions that differ from the prior MOU: a 4% base salary increase effective January 1, 2026; a one-time lump-sum payment of $1,500; an increase in bilingual pay from 2% to 4%; increases to dental/optical plan contributions (reported in the staff report as "increased to 25"); and an increase in safety-boot reimbursement from $200 to $300. Staff also described changes to grievance and disciplinary procedures and the recognition of additional employee positions.
Council members asked questions and then moved and seconded approval. The council recorded a roll-call vote and approved the MOU and associated salary-range resolutions; staff said adoption would amend the personnel system and establish authorized positions and monthly salary ranges.
Staff told the council the MOU was recommended for approval as presented and that subsequent administrative steps would follow to implement salary-range adjustments and payroll updates.
