Crawford water staff report licensing gap and explore security grant for plant

Staff described recent training in Chadron and a tour of a neighboring plant as part of ongoing efforts to meet regulatory requirements.
Dennis and Ed reported routine operational activity and maintenance: sampling and reporting, ongoing repairs at the Water Plant, South Wells, and the Infiltration Gallery, completion of NRD usage reports, 18 locates and 10 shutoffs. They also said they are investigating grant opportunities to improve security at the water and sewer plant, specifically cameras and better lighting; Council Member Christopher Dean recommended Homeland Security as a possible funding source.
No formal council action was taken on staffing or security funding at the Dec. 10 meeting. Staff were asked to continue pursuing grant options and to report back with details and recommendations.
