Council hears Golf Board report: seasonal deficit, audit discrepancy and Lightspeed pause

Council Member Tony Storbeck reported on the Golf Board’s Nov. 20 meeting. Storbeck said the course ran an operating deficit this season of approximately $21,000.
Jeanie Daigger told council members that, according to last season’s financials and an audit by Casey Peterson, the Golf operation showed a profit of $16,660. The board, however, could not reconcile how that profit figure was calculated when compared with the city's financial database and the auditor’s report; Daigger plans to contact the auditor, Casey Peterson, to clarify the discrepancy.
Storbeck said the Golf Board moved to temporarily cancel the Lightspeed program during the off-season while the board evaluates whether the program provides sufficient value to continue. Council took the report as informational; no council vote was recorded on the Lightspeed program at the Nov. 26 meeting.
Council asked for clearer reporting formats and suggested aligning the city’s treasurer reports with other local entities for easier comparison.
