Council appoints Jeanie Daigger interim clerk/treasurer with temporary pay increase

Council President April Grant and council members approved Mayor Shane Norman’s appointment of Jeanie Daigger as interim Clerk/Treasurer at a temporary rate of $20.00 per hour pending completion and correction of her bonding paperwork.
The council debated whether the pay increase was intended to be permanent; members amended the motion on the floor to specify that the raise is temporary during the interim assignment. Council Member Brent Gebbie moved the amended motion; Council Member Christopher Dean seconded. The motion passed unanimously: Gebbie, Dean, Storbeck and Grant voting AYE.
Council also approved adding the interim Clerk/Treasurer to city bank accounts, contingent on completion of the required bond. That motion was made and seconded in the same meeting and passed without objection.
Jeanie Daigger told the council she had updated treasurer reports after audit adjustments and noted ARPA-funded projects require contracts by Dec. 31 to be included in next year’s reporting. The council did not set a date for hiring a permanent clerk/treasurer during this meeting.
The appointments and banking changes take effect once the bonding paperwork is corrected to reflect the Clerk/Treasurer title.
