Committee backs acceptance of carbon-reduction funds to repair emergency-vehicle preemption devices

Staff member Kevin told the committee the village applied for federal carbon-reduction funding to support installation and repair of EVP devices because ten traffic lights are missing or have faulty EVPs, a condition that can slow emergency-vehicle response times. Kevin said the Region One Planning Council notified the village in May that the Rockford Metropolitan Planning Organization policy committee recommended funding 80% of the total project cost; the village would be responsible for the remaining 20%, and that local match has been budgeted for the current fiscal year. Kevin recommended approval of the attached acceptance and acknowledgement agreement.
Motion to recommend the resolution was made by Mr. Nelson and seconded by Mr. James. After roll call, the committee announced it will send Resolution 48R26 to the next board meeting with a positive recommendation.
