Rockbridge County EDA adopts minutes and financial report; strategic plan progress reviewed
Summary
The EDA unanimously adopted three sets of minutes and the financial summary, reviewed strategic economic development plan lines of effort (BRE&A, marketing, workforce, infrastructure, housing, childcare), and noted priority projects including an airport feasibility study and follow-ups on housing and childcare work.
At its June 15 meeting the Rockbridge County Economic Development Authority unanimously adopted minutes for April 13, April 15 and May 18, 2026 and approved the financial summary as presented.
Brandy Flint reviewed the Strategic Economic Development Plan progress across six lines of effort: business retention, expansion & attraction (BRE&A); marketing; workforce development (including pursuit of GO VA funds for a Go Tec middle-school program); infrastructure (including the broadband briefing); housing (housing subcommittee was unable to meet this month due to scheduling conflicts and mandatory IT training); and childcare (maintenance of the Childcare Resource Hub). Conor Mitts noted an upcoming meeting with an individual exploring a childcare business/partnering model as an anchor tenant in a redevelopment project.
Ms. Flint flagged priority projects including an airport feasibility study slated for completion by the end of summer; Vice-Chair James “Jay” Williams asked staff to confirm with the county attorney whether he may attend future airport feasibility meetings. The board had no additional comments and adjourned at 9:45 a.m.
Ending: The EDA asked staff to continue reporting on the strategic plan lines of effort and priority projects at upcoming meetings.
