Board updates liaison and equity policies, confirms personnel introductions

The Greece Central School District Board approved two policy updates and noted several personnel items during its meeting.

On policy 1311 (liaison assignments) the board discussed a minor change that organizes board liaisons into "buckets of work" aligned with superintendent portfolios, intended to deepen board members' operational familiarity over a three-year term. The board approved the revision.

On policy 3190 (equity, diversity, inclusivity), Deputy Superintendent Mark Fleming explained the revision elevates the New York State Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education Framework within the policy text and removes isolated language that, when extracted from the full state framework, could be misinterpreted. Fleming and board members clarified that the policy language supports inclusive classroom grouping practices for students with disabilities while allowing appropriate small-group differentiation.

Both policies were adopted by voice vote of 8'20to'0. In the same portion of the agenda, the board acknowledged personnel introductions: Christopher Smith was introduced as a new assistant principal with prior experience in Geneseo and Rochester, and Kelly Judice was introduced as Assistant Director of Community Schools with three decades of experience working with children and families. Both personnel introductions were met with applause; the personnel items are part of routine board personnel approvals and district staffing announcements.

The board also moved the superintendent's employment agreement to the table and approved that procedural step without recorded objections.
