Upper Moreland parks department reports multiple capital projects advancing; semiquincentennial praised and a volunteer fair announced

At its May 11 meeting, the Upper Moreland Township Parks and Recreation Committee unanimously approved the April 20 meeting minutes and received monthly reports from the Parks and Recreation Department and the Library Board of Trustees.
Kate Kollar, the township’s Director of Parks and Recreation, told the committee that major advancements have been made on Woodlawn Park, the PECO Powerline Trail design, Bonnet Lane utility coordination, and Farmstead Springhouse restoration. She also reported successful spring youth and adult programming and said the department is continuing preparations for summer camps to serve township residents.
Under Old Business the committee recapped the township’s semiquincentennial celebration. Commissioner and Committee Chair Sarah Byrnes commended the Parks and Recreation Department, and Kollar publicly thanked partner organizations and members of the Semiquincentennial Celebration Committee; Commissioner Jay Silverman requested that the department post the event’s drone show to the township website and Kollar agreed.
Diane Walton, Strategic Planning Committee Chair for the Library Board of Trustees, reported that the Library’s April/May minutes will be included in the June committee packet, announced a Volunteer Fair on June 13 at Upper Moreland Primary School (4–6 p.m.) in conjunction with the Lions Club Cool Car Show, described the JobNow virtual job-assistance program available daily from 2–11 p.m., and said the library will survey the community this summer and fall to update its strategic plan.
