The BET Budget Committee voted 4-0 on May 12 to approve CD-1, a request to use $953,410.64 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the upcoming fiscal year. Tyler Fairbairn, Community Development/Grants Administrator, told the committee Greenwich's HUD allocation for the grant year is $751,441 and that $201,969.64 in reprogrammed funds from prior years were added to the total, producing the requested sum.
Fairbairn said 29 organizations applied and each received some level of funding, and that the First Selectman accepted the Community Development Advisory Committee’s recommendations without change. The committee then voted 4-0 to approve a resolution to adopt the CDBG proposed budget for FY27; Chair Erickson noted the item cannot be placed as a routine item on the regular BET meeting agenda because the CDBG process requires a public hearing component.
The appropriation and resolution will proceed through the required public hearing and subsequent BET agenda process.
