Northumberland Board approves school transfers after finance update flags nutrition shortfall

Superintendent Leslie updated the Northumberland County Board of Supervisors on school division operations and encouraged members to review school‑level highlights in the Board Docs attachments. Finance Facilitator Karen Pica told the Board the division is current on electric bills and is completing chart‑of‑accounts changes but cautioned that “expenditures exceed the revenue” in the school nutrition fund and asked the Board to review nutrition funds in June before additional appropriations are made.

The Board approved two transfers tied to the school division. The first moved $6,519.06 among multiple school line items to cover refunds and unanticipated expenses (motion by Keith Harris; second by James Long; vote 5–0). The second transferred $115,000 from the instruction account (30‑6000‑6100) to administration & health (30‑6000‑6200) (motion by Chip Williams; second by Keith Harris; vote 5–0).
