Copper Creek Apartments progress reported; tentative groundbreaking set for July 21

City staff provided a construction update on Copper Creek Apartments during the Greendale Redevelopment Commission meeting on June 16.
Nathaniel, a city staff member, said site work is progressing: storm pipe and catch basins are in and some water main work has been laid. He noted that a portion of the site has been stripped to fly ash and that one additional test result is pending before capping about three to four feet of material in the affected area. "They're planning after that, once they get that cap, they're going to start trying to get buildings one and two up," Nathaniel said.
Staff discussed access considerations to the rear of the property and the potential for a future trail connection near the tunnel under the railroad tracks. Nathaniel said a tentative groundbreaking ceremony is set for July 21 sometime between 10 a.m. and noon; members were asked to hold that date.
When asked about occupancy timing, Nathaniel said he believed the developer "is shooting for late this year," noting some grant spending deadlines that may affect schedules.
The commission did not take formal action on the update; staff said they would share further construction details as they become available.
