Rio Vista council approves animal‑control contract, fire‑station repairs, dispatch and recycling agreements

Animal control: The council approved a memorandum of understanding with Solano County for animal‑control services (contracted extra‑help officer plus proportional shelter cost‑share) at a cited annual service cost of $38,999; staff said the contract will include quarterly reports on calls-for-service to provide transparency on usage.

Fire station repairs: The council authorized Option B for remodeling Fire Station 55’s kitchen, dorm room and associated hallways after roof repairs and mold remediation; the motion authorized a $59,977 contract with an additional appropriation of $19,977 from the Fire Service District fund to complete the work.

Dispatch and oil‑recycling programs: The council also approved an MOU with the Solano County Sheriff’s Office to continue fire and police dispatch services (including a $2 per‑call increase for police dispatch) and adopted a resolution to participate in a county‑administered recycling and used‑oil payment program (approximately $5,000 annually, with about $2,000 used for curbside pickup and $3,000 for outreach, per county staff).

Consent and governance items: The council passed the consent calendar items not pulled for discussion, and agreed to keep quarterly commission updates while allowing commissions to report “no report” when there is nothing substantive to present.

The measures passed on roll‑call votes with councilmembers present voting in the affirmative and one absence noted on multiple motions. Staff said quarterly reporting on animal‑control incidents and contract performance will be built into the agreement.
