At the Oct. 1 meeting of the Marquette County Traffic Safety Committee, resident Pat Jones of the Town of Springfield asked for more signage and speed enforcement for all-terrain vehicles around Wood Lake.
Jones requested additional 35-mph ATV speed limit signs near CTH CH and 25-mph signs on 5th Drive and Dakota Court. The resident also requested speed reduction measures and additional "curve ahead" warnings with a 45-mph transition zone on approaches to the lake area.
Chairperson Mike Kowalski said he would provide information to Jones and that a formal speed study would be necessary before the county could implement changes, indicating that staff will evaluate whether the requested signage and speed reductions meet engineering and regulatory requirements.
No vote was taken; the request was recorded for follow-up and potential study.
