The Marquette County Traffic Safety Committee on Oct. 1 reviewed crash data showing 266 crashes so far in 2025, resulting in 72 injuries and two fatalities, committee records show. The fatalities occurred June 27 and July 20.
Committee members identified recurring hot spots where multiple crashes have occurred: Interstate 39 near Endeavor and north of Westfield, State Trunk Highway 23 west of Montello, and State Trunk Highway 22 south of Montello. The committee did not announce immediate new enforcement actions tied to these locations at the meeting.
Trace Frost provided broader context for the county figures, noting that Wisconsin recorded 576 traffic fatalities in 2024 and that the state has 419 fatalities so far in 2025 compared with 417 for the same period in 2024. The committee also flagged National Move Over Day on Oct. 18, 2025, as part of outreach and awareness planning.
The committee said citation and warning data are being added to a pilot in Community Maps to help visualize where incidents and enforcement occur. No formal vote or ordinance related to crash response was taken at the Oct. 1 meeting.
The committee set its next meeting for Jan. 7, 2026.
