An independent audit of the City of St. Paul's 2023–24 financial statements received an unqualified opinion, the council heard March 17. Gary Hinrichs, a certified public accountant with Dana F. Cole & Co., presented the report and told the council the audit was "unqualified," meaning the financial statements received a clean opinion and expenditures were within approved budget limits.
Hinrichs also singled out the City Clerk and her staff for "exceptional" recordkeeping. Council member Katie Kowalski moved to approve the City of St. Paul's 2023–2024 Financial Statement; the motion carried unanimously (Kowalski, Peters, Wilson and Woodgate voting aye).
The approval completes the council's formal acceptance of the independent audit for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2024; the minutes do not record further follow-up actions.
