Highway committee backs WCA resolution urging more flexible transportation funding

The resolution, moved by John Bennett and seconded by Lance Achterberg, passed with the committee’s approval and will be forwarded to the Marquette County Board of Supervisors for action in February 2026. Trebiatowski told the committee the WCA initiative aims to provide sustainable funding increases that local governments can use without restrictive eligibility criteria.
Committee members did not record a roll-call vote tally in the minutes; the motion was noted as carried. The committee also handled routine business that preceded the vote, including approval of the meeting agenda and prior minutes.
The next step is county board review in February 2026, where supervisors will decide whether to adopt the resolution and send it on to state lawmakers or affiliated associations.
