Peter Dacey, co-chair of the Aberdeen America 250 celebration, asked members of the Harford County Commission on Veterans’ Affairs to march in the event’s parade on June 27 and to help publicize activities tied to the commemoration.
Dacey told the commission the parade will follow the route used by Generals Washington and Rochambeau during the American Revolution and will end at Festival Park. The day’s events begin with an 11:30 a.m. parade; participants are asked to assemble at Grove Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen at 11:00 a.m. He specifically requested that veterans show up and march and asked commission members to notify their posts and networks.
Chairman Bob Brown relayed Dacey’s request to the commission after opening remarks and asked members to sign up through Post 39’s website for related Independence Day participation. The commission discussed coordination with local VSO posts and noted that some members plan to march with Post 39 or Post 55.
The commission also reviewed other America 250–related activities in June, including Flag Day and local ceremonies on June 13 and a county presence at Festival Park on June 27. Commission members were told to expect further publicity and to share event information through their VSOs and community channels.
The commission’s outreach request is a volunteer call to action rather than a formal obligation; members and the public were directed to the Post 39 sign-up page for participation details.
