Smyrna’s Town Council voted June 15 to award the 2026 road restoration contract to Jerry’s Paving for $231,640, town staff said during the meeting.
The project, funded by Municipal Street Aid (MSA), was recommended after staff reviewed bids, prior project experience and an engineer's opinion of probable construction costs. Staff reported Jerry's Paving submitted the lowest responsive bid at $231,640; other bids noted in the meeting were $269,000, $363,000 and $241,000.
Councilman Drew moved to approve the award and the motion was seconded. Barrett advised the council that a vote was appropriate; the council then approved the motion by voice vote. The meeting record shows the vote was a voice vote and no individual roll-call totals were read into the record.
Town staff said the bid selection followed the normal procurement process and confirmed the funding source as Municipal Street Aid. There were no amendments to the motion during the discussion. The award is expected to proceed to contract execution consistent with town procurement procedures.
The council also discussed what entity the contract would be awarded to and staff confirmed it would be awarded to Jerry's Paving. No start date or construction schedule was announced at the meeting; staff indicated those details will be handled in contract administration.
