Marquette County Highway Committee approves larger 2026 maintenance contract

The Marquette County Highway Committee voted Nov. 18 to approve the county’s 2026 Routine Maintenance Agreement (RMA) for $990,600, an increase of about $75,000 from the 2025 contract. The motion to approve the RMA was moved by Lance Achterberg and seconded by John Bennett; the motion carried.
Brian Trebiatowski, highway department staff, presented the state financial report and put the RMA decision in budget context. He reported October RMA costs of $17,070 and said the county had $54,195 remaining in the 2025 state budget while noting the county had used 94.08% of its 2025 state allocation. Trebiatowski also reported the DMA budget was originally $931,500 for 2025 but year‑to‑date spending totaled $1,000,087.
The committee’s action follows the department’s summary of recent county expenditures. Trebiatowski reported October county costs of $172,035, including $168,351 for county maintenance (primarily paving and mowing), $2,297 in special county maintenance, $986 for bridge maintenance and $400 for road construction; the county reported $129,204 remaining in its 2025 county budget.
Chair Mike Raddatz opened the meeting at 9:00 a.m. and committee members proceeded through routine agenda items before taking the RMA vote. The committee approved the agenda and previous meeting minutes earlier in the session.
Next steps: staff will implement the RMA for 2026 work and proceed with the projects funded under the agreement. The committee adjourned at 9:21 a.m.
