An agency official told the committee that the county had recorded two traffic fatalities this year — on June 27 and July 20, 2025 — and that the most frequent trouble spots include a location near Endeavor (mile marker or reference 139), stretches north of Westfield, STH 23 west of Montello and STH 22 south of Montello. The official said the county continues to monitor those corridors to target safety efforts.
Trace Frost, an agency official who presented statewide context, said Wisconsin recorded 576 fatalities in 2024 and that so far in 2025 there have been 419 fatalities, roughly comparable to the 417 reported at the same point in 2024. Frost’s remarks were offered as background for local crash counts and county safety work.
County staff also said Marquette County is participating in a pilot program to map citations and warnings on a Community Maps platform. The official described the mapping effort as a tool to visualize enforcement and to inform where traffic‑safety resources should be concentrated. Staff noted National Move Over Day, set for Oct. 18, 2025, as an opportunity to reinforce safe‑driving messaging.
The update did not propose new ordinances or a specific budget allocation tied to the crash report; staff described monitoring, mapping and outreach as the next steps. The committee did not record any formal motions or votes tied to the statistics during this agenda item.
