The board's summary reported Olson was rated "highly effective" in each area and commended his leadership on initiatives including a successful operating levy, strategic planning, the nature‑based education program, the early‑childhood center and other district partnerships.
As part of transition preparations, the board approved a package of organizational updates effective with the incoming superintendent (effective July 1, 2026). The approvals remove outgoing superintendent Eric Olson from specific designated authorities and add Dr. Chris Swenson as the non‑voting ex‑officio board member and as authorized signatory for legal counsel designations, contractual agreements, and electronic wire transfers; the board also approved the annual designation for MDE external user access recertification authority. The package was moved and approved 6–0.
Board members and district staff presented a tribute to Olson and offered tokens of appreciation; the public record shows sustained applause. Olson spoke briefly and thanked the board and community, saying he was proud to serve and that he "bleed[s] red and black."
