Council removes $50,000 dais upgrade from this year’s budget

Acting city manager Hanley told the council that staff had not secured competitive bids for a $50,000 dais upgrade, explained that maintenance work already done left approximately $47,000 in the line item, and asked the council to "kill the project" this year and move the line into next year’s general fund.
Councilmember discussion favored deferral and low-cost repairs; one councilmember joked that "the duct tape works great" and proposed a cost-minimizing approach instead of the full upgrade. A motion to remove the dais project from the current-year budget was moved, seconded and approved without recorded opposition.
The council directed staff to reallocate the funds into next year’s general fund and to note the dais item as deferred rather than immediately replaced.
