Council, organizers finalize July 4 schedule with parade, veterans memorial and train rides

Organizers and council members confirmed pageant and fireworks plans at Flack Park for the evening before the holiday.
Why it matters: the schedule sets volunteer shifts, vendor needs and safety coverage for an event expected to draw families and visitors. S5, who described the parade and ancillary activities, emphasized coordination between volunteers and public works to avoid conflicts with baseball games and other events.
Organizers spelled out admission and ticketing details for rides and concessions. "They start at 11AM. They're $2 each," S6 said of the train rides; S6 and S5 also discussed pie and ice cream pricing and agreed to email flyers to the clerk for posting and mailing. Organizers asked the clerk (S2) to post finalized times online and mail flyers at least a week before July 4.
The council and organizers also discussed a small veterans memorial exhibit to be set up July 3 and remain open through July 4 for public viewing. "This room... will be open and people can come in," S5 said, noting family members would staff the display to monitor visitors.
Parade logistics were addressed in detail: the route will start at the church and loop past Flack Park, Chris Webb was named as the announcer for parade participants, and a family bike ride organized by Jenny Adams will include historical stops and prizes. The council agreed to provide volunteers for the community breakfast (setup beginning at 6:30 a.m.) and to support raffle and bingo prizes through local sponsorships.
Next steps: organizers will correct and distribute event flyers, confirm volunteer assignments and provide a finalized flyer to the clerk for online posting and mailing.
