Plains Township receives roughly $400,000 grant toward new fire truck; FD offers free smoke-detector installs

At the May 14 Plains Township meeting Chair Thomas Shubilla thanked staff, commissioners and Representative Eddie Day Pashinski for assistance in securing approximately $400,000 in grant funding that the township said covered about half the cost of a new fire truck.
Commissioner Robert Sax reported the fire department responded to 137 calls in April and encouraged residents who need smoke detectors to contact the department for a free installation.
Commissioners also congratulated Brendan Kelly on becoming a full-time township firefighter. The board noted the grant and truck-ceremony proceedings as a significant capital improvement for the township's emergency services.
