Board outlines next steps toward athletic‑fields referendum, seeks project manager

Trustee Catenio updated the board on work to plan an upgrade to the district’s outdoor athletic fields and said the next formal step is to secure a project manager ahead of a bond referendum.
Catenio told the board the district previously approved use of capital reserve funds to support preliminary work and that committee members and staff spent hours reviewing options, conducting borings, land surveys and flood‑risk analysis. "At our November planning session, the board unanimously approved moving forward toward a referendum," Catenio said, and the next step is to secure a project manager to develop a community timeline, cost estimates and a formal proposal.
He named members of the facilities committee who have worked on the effort: John Gonella, Christine Sheridan, Tanya Preiser, Anthony Hayden and Abilio Guimaraes. The board said it will hold a facilities meeting in the New Year and plans to present next steps at the Dec. 17 board meeting.
No referendum date was set at this meeting; the board indicated additional public conversation will follow as design, cost and timeline details are developed.
